Formula DRIFT Ends the 2011 Season to the Largest Crowd in the Series History

This past Saturday, Formula DRIFT completed the most successful season in the 8 years of the Series. The final event of the season, Round 7: Title Fight held at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale was held in front of a sold out crowd with additional seating added to the venue for this event. With 5 drivers entering with a chance for the championship the event was the most competitive in Series history and did not fail to disappoint as the drivers put it all on the line.

Daijiro Yoshihara entered with the point lead and after a loss in the Top 32 his lead was jeopardized opening the door for the other drivers to take the championship. After several different scenarios played out and the smoke cleared Daijiro Yoshihara won both the 2011 Formula DRIFT championship along with the Tires.com Triple Crown bonus, which Tyler McQuarrie took the event victory. NOS Energy Drink driver, Chris Forsberg finished the event in third place, which also gave him enough points to complete the season in third place overall.

The ID Agency managed over 300 members of the media over the weekend with guests such as Autoweek, CBS, NBC, and Directv filming for their n3D program. We would like to thank Formula DRIFT for another great season and congratulate the Series on their success. Next stop SEMA for the annual press conference and party.
