Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Complete
We're not strangers to Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. This year we helped celebrate it's 91st Anniversary while there on behalf of RECARO to follow up on a story we shot late last year about the infamous Mitsubishi Evo crash that stunned most of America. Jeremy Foley and Yuri Kouznetzov made it to CNN, Fox News and Good morning America after walking away from 14 rolls in the car unscathed due to a well built roll cage and RECARO seats that kept them cocooned safely until the car stopped it's violent roll down the mountain.
Since that very crash PPIHC made a ruling against co-pilots/navigators so Jeremy Foley was forced to face the mountain alone. He brought a Pontiac Solstice to get him to the top and we were there to film the finish he was hoping for to say that he had finally takled the mountain. Unfortunately within the first half of the course his engine blew and he was unable to complete the race but we were happy that he was safe and that he had the perseverance to try again.
While we were there we also caught up with some of the other great drivers and teams and got an interview with the legendary driver and filmographer, Jeff Zwart, and BBi Autosport, the licensed RECARO dealer who built Jeff's incredibly cool Porsche GT3 Cup Car.
For those of you who didn't see the race you can check out RedBull.tv who live streamed the event and have since posted the in car camera footage of Sebastien Loeb completing and breaking a World record for Pikes Peak with a winning time of 8:13 lap to the clouds.
